"This photo is part of an ongoing series of photographs that mostly depict family and friends from my surrounding community. I often draw from my family archives and personal memories in the creation of my work. The illustrated pattern here is loosely based on a wallpaper print in my grandmother’s home. Through a collaborative process with each subject, I create portraits that question stereotypical notions of beauty and gender.”
