Available in several colors, this fabric is the next part of an expanding collection centered around the whitewashed past of re-branded southern plantations. Many of the scenes of European leisure suggested in 18th century toile patterns were financed by the toil of slaves. The manipulation of modern day iconography juxtaposes the romantic visage of plantation life with the torturous reality of slavery. The five repeating scenes illustrate the vicious cycle of acquisition, sale, discipline, domestication and revolt / freedom.
